Default Setup and Installation Guide

Things to Know Before Installing Roaming Threads

You need access to your forum and its directory and Control Panel to proceed with the installation. These are the things you will need:
* An installed and running copy of vBulletin v3.6.x or higher
* Access to your web server (via FTP)
* An FTP Client (if you need to install Roaming Threads on a remote server)

Things to Do to Install and Set up Roaming Threads
1. Check to ensure that you have the minimum requirements to run Roaming Threads.

2. Create a Roaming Threads account at http://www.roamingthreads.com/

3. Note the API key for your Roaming Threads account. You can find your key on your account details page.

4. Download the latest release of Roaming Threads from here or here.

5. Unzip the downloaded file to a folder on your hard drive.

6. Upload ALL the files in the 'upload' folder to your forum root folder.
Note: Ensure all files are uploaded with the same folder structure provided in your 'upload' folder.
7. Upload Roaming Threads product XML to the Product Manager on your Admin CP.
· Goto your AdminCP -> Plugins and Products -> Manage Products

· Click on the [Add/Import Product] link

· Locate the product file,’ product-roaming_threads.xml’, in the folder that you downloaded and unzipped (in the folder, vb_roamingthreads-> do_not_upload). Upload/include the file.

· Click Import
8. Setup your Roaming Threads plugin by entering your API key.
Goto your Admin CP -> Roaming Threads -> Roaming Threads Options-> Enter your API key and Click the ‘Save’ button.
9. Set up your image upload options.
Go to your Admin CP -> Roaming Threads -> Roaming Threads Options-> Mobile Image Storage Type ->Choose your option
9.1. If you choose to upload your images to a local directory
· Create a folder in your forum root directory called ‘roamingthreads.com’

· Make the folder writable by using this command:

chmod 777 roamingthreads.com
9.2. If you choose to upload your images to Flickr,

Note: These are the things you will need to do before you can setup Roaming Threads to upload images to your Flickr account:
· Open a Flickr account

· Get a Flickr API key

· Note down your Flickr secret key

· Make sure your privacy settings are set to public (Anyone can view your images)
9.2.1. Enter your Flickr Key
· Go to your Admin CP -> Roaming Threads -> Flickr Storage Options-> Flickr API Key
9.2.2. Enter your Flickr secret
· Go to your Admin CP -> Roaming Threads -> Flickr Storage Options-> Flickr secret
9.2.3. Enter your Flickr Photostream (optional)
· Go to your Admin CP -> Roaming Threads -> Flickr Storage Options-> Flickr Photostream
9.2.4. Authorize Roaming Threads to upload images to your account
· Go to your Admin CP -> Roaming Threads -> Flickr Storage Options -> Flickr Authentication Token

· Click on the’ Flickr API Authentication’ link

· Click the Start button

· Click on the ‘Flickr Auth’ link

· A new Flickr window/tab will open.

· Click the ‘Next’ button

Note: If you see this warning, please ignore it.



· Click the ‘ OK, I’ll authorize it’ button

· Go back to your Admin CP and click the ‘Finish’ button

Note: You do not have to take a note of or enter this token into your Roaming threads options. Roaming Threads will do this for you once you click on the authentication URL.
9.3. If you choose to upload your images to Imageshack,

These are the things you will need:
· An Imageshack account

· Your Imageshack Registration Code

· Your Imageshack API key
9.3.1. Enter your Imageshack Registration Code
· Go to your Admin CP -> Roaming Threads -> Imageshack Storage Options-> Imageshack Storage Options-> Imageshack Registration Code
9.3.2. Enter your Imageshack API Key
· Go to your Admin CP -> Roaming Threads -> Imageshack Storage Options-> Imageshack Storage Options-> Imageshack API Key
10. Go back to your Roaming Threads Account Page. Navigate to the add domain page and enter the forum URL that you will be using Roaming Threads on. Click Submit.

Optional Settings for Roaming Threads:
Who can use Roaming Threads?

The default setting for which groups of users can use Roaming Threads is all unbanned user groups. We recommend that you set user group based permissions. To change permissions for your user groups, follow these steps:
· Go to your Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager
o For each usergroup, follow these steps to disallow the usergroup from using Roaming Threads
§ Edit usergroup

§ Under the Roaming Threads Permissions section, set the ‘Can upload mobile Images’ option to ‘No’ and Click the ‘Update’ button
Create mobile email field for your users

Roaming Threads uses users’ mobile email addresses to send keys. Your users will have to enter their mobile email address each time they create a Roaming Thread or request a key. To create a mobile email user field and allow Roaming Threads to use this field as the user’s default mobile email address, follow these steps:
· Go to Admin CP -> User Profile Fields -> Add New User Profile Field

· Select ‘Single – Line Text Box’ and click Continue

· Add Title ; The title ‘Mobile Email’ is suggested

· It is suggested that you set the following options as shown. This will ensure that your users’ mobile email addresses will remain private and will not be shown on their profiles.

· Set the ‘Private field’ option to ‘Yes’

· Set the ‘Field Searchable’ option to ‘No’

· Set the ‘Show on Members List’ option to ‘No’

· Click the ‘Save’ button

· Note down the field name. It will be of the form ‘field#’

· Go to Admin CP -> Roaming Threads -> Roaming Threads Options-> ID of mobile email profile field and enter the field number

Note: Enter only the number

· Click Save
